Perry Lutheran Home hosts LWML mission partners for semi-annual meeting

The Christian, Caring Community of Perry Lutheran Home was happy to host three LWML meetings over the course of two days. As a mission partner and generous donor toward the newly opened Acorns & Oaks intergenerational, Christian daycare, the LWML got to see first-hand the fruits of this innovative mission that is now possible, in part, through their support.

Two meetings were held on Friday, August 11, in the newly renovated Perry Lutheran Home cottage where staff treated attendees to snacks, appetizers, and dinner. This space is used to accommodate overnight guests, Alzheimer’s support group meetings, and PLH Aging Well seminars free to the public.

The larger meeting was held on Saturday, August 12, in the new, Acorns & Oaks intergenerational, Christian daycare space located in the bright and cheerful Perry Lutheran Home lower level. Perry Lutheran Home staff and board along with Christ Lutheran Church staff were excited to share stories, show video, and provide a short message and meaningful prayer communicating the impact of the recently opened daycare to all in attendance. A special, purple ribbon cutting for the LWML also took place to demonstrate Perry Lutheran Home’s thanks and gratitude. Staff treated the LWML attendees with gifts made by the daycare children, residents, and staff along with lunch complete with Acorns & Oaks cookies.

Christ’s love and presence were felt throughout these days for all involved. With the support of the LWML, and other partners who care about those at all stages of their life journey, magical, intergenerational moments will continue to happen every single day at Perry Lutheran Home.
