Perry Lutheran Homes is offering a free, community Dementia Support Group for anyone caring for or supporting a loved one with dementia. The group provides a welcoming space to share experiences, gain helpful coping strategies, and connect with others on a similar journey. Whether you’re a family member, caregiver, or friend of someone living with dementia, you are welcome to join.

Thank you to our tenants — Doris McCorkle, Gloria Renshaw, Pam Maher and Nylene Hansen — for opening their beautifully decorated homes and welcoming visitors into their Christmas-themed apartments. Guests also enjoyed the festive charm of the new Spring Valley Sports Pub, the cozy Fireside Room, and the newly transformed respite apartment for short-stays with all-inclusive services, meals, and furnishings.

On Wednesday, August 7, two members of the Perry Lutheran Homes family were surprised with the news that they had won very special awards.

Dr. Randy ‘Doc’ McCaulley, has been awarded the 2024 Board Member of the Year Award by LeadingAge Iowa and Carmelite ‘Carm’ Staker, Spring Valley Campus tenant, awarded the 2024 Leading Life Award. LeadingAge Iowa is an association representing over 300 non-profit aging services providers across the state of Iowa, like Perry Lutheran Homes. Perry Lutheran Homes welcomed 100 volunteers at the fourth, annual “Project Deliver the Love” event on Thursday, May 2. Volunteers transformed ordinary items into heartwarming goodie bags that were hand-delivered to spread joy and God’s love to 350 older adults in and surrounding Perry, Dallas County, and more. Perry Lutheran Homes, together with the help of volunteers and sponsors, will deliver warm greetings and deliveries of love to over 350 older adults through “Project Deliver the Love” on Thursday, May 2. This project will not only celebrate and spread love to 350 older adults in one day, but will raise funds for life-saving meal delivery to home-bound elders the entire year through.

Hand-crafted, #PerryStrong prayer crosses were made and delivered to share support, encouragement, and the love of Jesus to impacted families, Perry public schools, and Perry first responders on Thursday, February 15.

The Perry Lutheran Homes Meals on Wheels team will deliver more than regular, hot meals to home-bound older adults on Monday, December 18. Thanks to the One Hundred+ People for Perry group pledging $5,600, together with Perry Lutheran Homes, Meals on Wheels clients will receive a Tyson Fresh Meats meat bundle and gift card to a local, Perry grocery store.
