On Wednesday, August 7, two members of the Perry Lutheran Homes family were surprised with the news that they had won very special awards.

Dr. Randy ‘Doc’ McCaulley, has been awarded the 2024 Board Member of the Year Award by LeadingAge Iowa and Carmelite ‘Carm’ Staker, Spring Valley Campus tenant, awarded the 2024 Leading Life Award. LeadingAge Iowa is an association representing over 300 non-profit aging services providers across the state of Iowa, like Perry Lutheran Homes. Perry Lutheran Homes welcomed 100 volunteers at the fourth, annual “Project Deliver the Love” event on Thursday, May 2. Volunteers transformed ordinary items into heartwarming goodie bags that were hand-delivered to spread joy and God’s love to 350 older adults in and surrounding Perry, Dallas County, and more. Perry Lutheran Homes, together with the help of volunteers and sponsors, will deliver warm greetings and deliveries of love to over 350 older adults through “Project Deliver the Love” on Thursday, May 2. Hand-crafted, #PerryStrong prayer crosses were made and delivered to share support, encouragement, and the love of Jesus to impacted families, Perry public schools, and Perry first responders on Thursday, February 15.

On Thursday, May 11, over 450 older adults living in Perry and Northern Dallas County will be met with a smile and warm greetings at their door as 150 volunteers hit the streets to deliver baskets full of love and encouragement through “Project Deliver the LOVE,” a special community outreach event created by Perry Lutheran Homes. On Wednesday, March 1, handmade dog treats were delivered with love to Racoon River Pet Rescue by residents and children from Perry Lutheran Homes and Acorns & Oaks Inter-Generational Christian Daycare all of Perry.

The treat making was coordinated by Tina Nelson, Activities Professional at Perry Lutheran Homes St. James memory care neighborhood, and Mandi Ballentine, Acorns & Oaks Director and Intergenerational Outreach Coordinator. Residents and children transformed pumpkin, applesauce, egg and whole wheat flour into delicious, heart-and-star-shaped dog treats.
