Acorns & Oaks Christian Academy, a Christ-centered place of love and learning for babies and children, announces the grand opening of an inter-generational, 3- and 4-year-old preschool to serve the Perry community.

Since 2017, Acorns & Oaks Christian Daycare has provided babies and children age 6 weeks through 5 years a one-of-a-kind, daycare experience through regular, inter-generational interaction with older adults living at Perry Lutheran Homes.

On Thursday, May 11, over 450 older adults living in Perry and Northern Dallas County will be met with a smile and warm greetings at their door as 150 volunteers hit the streets to deliver baskets full of love and encouragement through “Project Deliver the LOVE,” a special community outreach event created by Perry Lutheran Homes. This year, a secondary goal has been added; raising funds to keep the home-delivered meals program for older adults in Northern Dallas County going.

On Wednesday, March 1, handmade dog treats were delivered with love to Racoon River Pet Rescue by residents and children from Perry Lutheran Homes and Acorns & Oaks Inter-Generational Christian Daycare all of Perry.

The treat making was coordinated by Tina Nelson, Activities Professional at Perry Lutheran Homes St. James memory care neighborhood, and Mandi Ballentine, Acorns & Oaks Director and Intergenerational Outreach Coordinator. Perry Lutheran Homes King’s Gardens Campus and Eden Acres Campus have royal blue exterior lights on display for passersby to see. The royal blue lights appear in early December until Christmas Eve, which is when the royal blue turns to white.

Perry Lutheran Homes hosted nearly 150 volunteers to transform ordinary items into baskets full of love at the second, annual “Project Deliver the LOVE” event.
