Surveys were recently given to Perry Lutheran Homes Meals on Wheels recipients in Perry and Northern Dallas County. The resounding results confirm that this much-needed program has a big impact on the daily lives and quality of life for home-bound elder residents in need of daily nutritious meals and wellness checks.

Anonymous survey responses include positive comments about the meal quality, delivery driver importance, and the need for Perry Lutheran Homes Meals on Wheels program to continue.

The community of Perry continues to StepUp to join Perry Lutheran Homes to care for the most pressing needs of its elderly citizens. A recent example that demonstrates the heart this community has for its elderly residents is a gift of $3,000 given by Heather Bruce and her team at Osmundson Manufacturing. This gift will be used to provide and deliver daily hot meals to homebound elderly and disabled people in Perry and Northern Dallas County through Perry Lutheran Homes’ Meals on Wheels project.

Elder loneliness is a silent epidemic affecting the health and well-being of our “invisible elders” living at home and in senior care communities right here in Iowa.

More than forty percent of those age 65 and over regularly experience loneliness. These feelings of separation, disconnection and isolation lead to serious health problems such as depression and dementia, as well as an increased likelihood of death.

Spring Valley Retirement Community was abounding with Christmas joy at the December 3 Tour of Homes and Wine Walk.

The community of Perry continues to work together with Perry Lutheran Homes to StepUp for local elder citizens. Most recently, the Perry Elks Lodge No. 407 made a $250 donation to support the life-changing Music & Memory program for veterans living in Perry Lutheran Homes memory care communities at its Willis campus.
